Helping Coaches Identify and Coach Through Biases

Building off previous Coach Boosters, and Dr. Walter Gilliam’s Keynote and Intensive Workshop at the Nebraska Young Child Institute, this Coach Booster Training will provide coaches an opportunity to reflect on their own implicit bias as it relates to their coaching practices. As a nationally recognized expert on Implicit Bias in Early Childhood Settings, Dr. Walter Gilliam will guide participates to dive deeper into four main focus points including: the background of implicit bias, identifying one’s own bias, how to help persons being coached identify their biases, and working through tangible steps in addressing implicit bias within coaching situations. Participants will have opportunities in this interactive training to work through real life scenarios and action planning steps.

Participants should arrive at the training with some prior knowledge about eary childhood biases. As a prerequisite, please watch this 12-minute YouTube video before attending: www.bit.ly/ECBias.

Participants must have direct coaching experience prior to attending a Coach Booster Training. This Coach Booster Training is indented for coaches that are actively coaching. If participants are not actively coaching but are interested in attending a session by Dr. Walter Gilliam, please consider attending his Keynote and Intensive Workshop at the Nebraska Young Child Institute.
