Competencies for Professional Practice (12:30-1:30 P.M.)

The Nebraska Early Childhood Coaching Guidebook: Competencies for Professional Practice were developed through the Nebraska Early Childhood Coach Development Team (as part of the Nebraska Early Childhood Coach Collaboration Team) in 2019 as a way to outline a common set of principles or standards for coaching in early childhood education settings. They are based on an in-depth analysis of the skills and dispositions required for coaches to be effective in fostering growth and learning, while promoting quality outcomes for early childhood educators, children and/or families.

These competencies can be a useful resource to support coaching work in the following ways:
• To inform ongoing conversation on the role of coaching in early childhood education professional development
and how to support coaching efforts in Nebraska
• As a coach self-assessment tool to review and strengthen skills and dispositions
• As a guide for selection of professionals interested in becoming coaches
• As a tool for strengthening professional identity among early childhood educators who are doing coaching

Join us for one of three opportunities, where the Nebraska Early Childhood Coaching Guidebook: Competencies for Professional Practice are introduced. Participants will learn about how the competencies were developed, receive a general overview of the competencies, how they are to be used, and what the next steps are for continued training and professional development around the competencies. The Nebraska Early Childhood Coaching Guidebook: Competencies for Professional Practice will continue to be incorporated into early childhood coaching sessions and trainings across all early childhood coaching initiatives in Nebraska. Your attendance is strongly encouraged.

Open to all Early Childhood Coaches in Nebraska. Participants must have direct coaching experience prior to attending a Coach Booster Training.

Registration for these sessions is FREE. Space is limited to 25 attendees per training.
