Rita Stinner has dedicated her life to the arts, to music education, and to community service. Rita grew up in southwestern Iowa, and attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Prior to moving to western Nebraska, Rita taught for Lincoln Public Schools. After moving west, she was named Music Program Director at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff.
Rita has served on numerous local and state arts and economic development committees, including Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET) Radio Foundation Board, and the Advisory Board for the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. Rita has been fortunate over the years to receive many generous awards, including induction into the Nebraska Music Educators Hall of Fame, the Nebraska Arts Council Governor’s Award for Excellence in Arts Education. Rita recently resigned her position at WNCC to assist her husband, Senator John Stinner of District 48 as he serves in the Nebraska State Legislature.
Rita joined the Nebraska Children board in 2017.
