Otoe County is working on a central website with all available resources and links to assist families. Our Community Action organization is busy but keeping up. We have a new covid relief fund established by our Community Foundation to assist schools and organizations that are helping fill gaps. 01:34:56 Susanne Shore: If you have questions or thoughts: susanne@firstladynebraska.net 01:35:08 aweaver@nebraskachildren.org: Is there an Omaha specific housing group? 01:35:46 Rachel Meier: CDC and OSHA interim guidance: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/organizations/meat-poultry-processing-workers-employers.html 01:36:11 Tera Kucera: Interested in food insecurity, housing, older youth work, and financial strategies. Thank you! 01:36:20 aweaver@nebraskachildren.org: We are starting to have some big challenges with where to pout our homeless kiddos being released from jail or becoming newly homeless. 01:36:41 jgies: Growing Community Connections/Dakota County -we are meeting several times a week with community partners to address daily needs as well as looking at possible challenges a head and resources available. We are very grateful to NCFF and their partners as well as our many local partners for their outstanding support to our communities! Very excited about the videos especially the one on what to do if you are sick there have been a lot of questions around that and how to know if you should go to the hospital. We are seeing a lot of sick individuals. Thank you! 01:37:03 Jessica McGinley - Valentine: if big plants have to close, can products be transported to smaller plants instead of wasted? to help out smaller plants & help keep food production from totally stopping 01:38:06 Cathy Minnick: I am jumping off at 11 because we are submitting a grant for our collaborative TODAY and are meeting to finalize our proposal. Just to give a quick update for our area, the referrals have ramped up…lots of rent and utility assistance requests. I have many families and the clinic, nursing home and hospital looking forward to getting computers. We identified a bilingual support person for our area and I’m really excited about this! She already has done outreach and identified 5 families in need of assistance. I’d like to see what others are doing as far as a contract for this. We are submitting a grant to the Custer County Foundation today to cover the implementation fee of a resource app, which we intend to get started on ASAP. Thank you Mary and I will be talking to you soon. 01:38:09 Rachel Meier: For those communities with a strong farming presence, this USDA Farmers to Families Food Program is an interesting opportunity given the food insecurity issues. The application is DUE tomorrow though. https://www.ams.usda.gov/selling-food-to-usda/farmers-to-families-food-box 01:40:48 gay mctate: Thanks Erin for bringing out an important issue 01:46:39 Rose Hood Buss: Can someone share the link to request PPE from DHHS? 01:46:57 Kelsey Tourek: I have to get on another call. Thank you all for sharing and thank you for your continued organization Mary! 01:48:08 Sandy Nation: Earlier this week, Sioux City, Iowa was identified as the #1 hot spot for COVID. With South Sioux City being just across the river and the home to Tyson's largest beef packing plant, there is a lot of fear and uncertainty. Tyson will close on Friday for deep cleaning and open again on Tuesday. Employees will be paid during this time, but production is down and the number of work hours have been cut. This means a smaller paycheck. We have seen an increase in the demand for food and rent and utility assistance. Probably the biggest concern is the rent and utility payments going past due for 2, 3 or 4 months. Woodbury County, Iowa (Sioux City) is on the list to not re-open at this time. Community partners are meeting weekly and updates are shared with all to keep connected. 01:48:22 Emily Kluver: Public Health has launched a request form for providers in critical need (less than one week supply) of PPE to request additional supply: https://form.jotform.com/NebraskaDHHS/PPERequestForm 01:54:27 Valerie Roth: If your clients have received threatening letters or eviction letters from landlords, Legal Aid of Nebraska is willing to look at them and are doing great advocacy for these people. 02:03:15 Sandy Nation: HyVee in South Sioux has contracted with Uber Eats for grocery delivery. 02:03:24 Denise Zwiener: Since you may not make it to Buffalo County.. our updates. We have not yet crushed the curve and are in-between two hot spots in Dawson and Hall. Doing testing at Buffalo County meat packing plants this week, so our numbers may be up. We are not really discussing opening up at this time. Hospitals and clinics are discussing elective surgerys starting May 4. UNK has opened up for COVID19 quarantine and staffed by National Guard. Working to get medical professionals and details for this work. It has been slow with CR requests, however, housing/rent is starting to get very busy. Hosting weekly calls with emergency housing to ensure we are coordinating our response. 02:03:51 Sandy Nation: Thanks everyone for all you do! Stay safe, Stay healthy! 02:04:15 Denise Zwiener: Saturday we will be hosting a Community Conversation at 10:30 am on Facebook LIVE. We will have faith, MH, and more as panelists to help talk about the signs of stress and coping strategies. 02:04:42 LeaAnn-NCFF Consultant: It is important to remember that while there is a "soft" reopening, we still have a May 31st date of Stay Home, 6 Feet apart, No larger groups than 10 gathering... In some ways this seems very confusing to our communities. How do we create the balance of economy and health? We must be smart in our re-opening. 02:05:04 Denise Zwiener: We did not receive the food needed for everyone signed up for Mobile Food Pantry tomorrow. Major concern and working through that. 02:12:17 Anne Herman: Yes LeeAnn!!! 02:12:31 sschenk: Thank you 02:12:33 Deborah Dancer: Thanks, Mary. 02:12:40 Alyson Goedken: Mary - thank you for holding this call!!!!! 02:12:44 Alyson Goedken: Thank you all for sharing!!! 02:12:48 Zachary Nelson: Thank you! 02:12:55 Jessica Twentyman: How do we get on the mailing list? 02:12:56 damos: Thanks Mary 02:14:45 Mary Pinker: Hi Jessica, email Mary at mpinker@nebraskachildren.org 02:15:21 Jessica Twentyman: Thanks Mary!
