(I.e. lunch & learn, listening session, etc.) 00:33:12 Mary O'Hare: Does this prevent eviction in non-payment of rent only? If other violations of the lease occur is this in effect? 00:34:18 Denise Zwiener: If a person takes steps to put the declaration in place, is unable to pay rent until December are we delaying the bills until January. Then we (community response) will be facing clients bills of past four months due rent to pay in January. What benefit will it be to these individuals, landlords and community response to delay? If we no longer have Response and Recovery funds in January to assist, then how do we assist in this delay? 00:35:36 Galaxy Note9: website? 00:36:03 Leonor Fuhrer: Mary this is more of a CR question, can communities use CARES Funds to pay for interest and fees or are they limited only to rent? 00:37:04 gay mctate: Is this protection available for those who might be undocumente 00:37:50 Nichole Hetz: https://www.legalaidofnebraska.org/ 00:38:07 Emily Kluver: Does Legal Aid have a list of community partners that have CARES dollars to assist with rent? 00:38:18 Galaxy Note9: The delay can work as great leverage to accept .onies 00:38:37 Galaxy Note9: monies 00:38:40 Elci Warnell: Does the document have to be presented each month or only the once time and cover the client until Dec? 00:40:33 Jennifer Skala: Nebraska Children has a list of orgs/collaborations that have housing assistance dollars from the Cares R and R funds. DHHS is working on a full list of all of the Cares R and R Funds. We can ask Diane here a minute to find out the status. 00:41:01 Carmen Bradley: What recommendations do you have or step should we take--in Sarpy County we have a landlord who changed the locks without a court order. 00:41:35 gay mctate: Thank you so much scott 00:43:04 Chandra Essex: Scott, who can we contact at Legal Aid to give a quick presentation (like this) to our specific collaborative membership? 00:45:10 Jeff Chambers: In LIncoln and Balance of State CoCs referrals for prevention assistance for rental and utlility assistance through All Doors Lead Home Coordinated Entry. Please mute if not speaking. Thanks in advance. 01:00:41 Denise Zwiener: Thank you Emily, you have done a great job explaining this. 01:00:53 Steph Gardeman: If the family does not report this information, does it impact their case? 01:00:57 Shelly Witt, DHHS: No, it does not matter if payment goes to landlord or household 01:01:10 Steph Gardeman: Is there a way that DHHS can verify this without self-disclosure? 01:02:01 Heartland United Way: If I help with October's rent any day after the 1st, it will impact them? Sometimes we are not issuing their rent payment until the end of the month because of when they applied. 01:02:25 Denise Zwiener: I think we will add to our form to ask clients the month they renew their SNAP or if they are in the process of a SNAP renewal. 01:05:51 Shelly Witt, DHHS: The state is required to allow 10 days notice of any adverse action which is the reason why it would not impact benefits if rent assistance is paid in the last 10 days - even if we are aware of the payment, we do not have 10 days to notify the client of the adverse action. 01:07:29 Stacy Schenk: Thank you for doing that Emily. 01:10:52 Emily Kluver: Shelly – Western/Central – 402-984-9905 – shelly.witt@nebraska.gov Stacy – Northern/Central – 402-375-7055 – stacy.schenk@nebraska.gov Darla – Sarpy County/Southeast – 402-595-3314 – darla.berger@nebraska.gov Darniece – Douglas County – 402-595-3369 – darniece.amos@nebraska.gov 01:12:02 Sandy Nation: So anyone who is receiving Section 8 housing is not eligible for CARES Act funds for rent, correct? 01:12:44 Emily Kluver: P-EBT Questions should go to Melissa.Weyer@Nebraska.gov 01:12:52 Sam Gross: Does that apply to Public Housing and Tax Credit Units as well? 01:12:58 Jeff Chambers: Could that be repeated? We have not been able to verify that Re: Section 8 01:14:14 Jeff Chambers: CARES Response and Recovery? 01:16:45 Sam Gross: In theory - anyone receiving S8 or in Public Housing should report any loss of income and impact from COVID and have an interim completed which would reduce their rent. That being said, that doesn't always happen in a timely manner and Housing Authorities are by no means perfect and they are overwhelmed, so that may not happen right away. 01:17:23 Heartland United Way: Thanks, Sam! 01:20:10 Sam Gross: I left Lincoln Housing Authority back in June and at that time, any family on the Section 8 Program who was impacted by COVID needed to report that impact to their Housing Specialist right away. In theory, the portion of rent that they are responsible for would be reevaluated and reduced, but by how much would depend. It is completely possible though that the family would still have a rent portion that they are responsible to pay but they may not be able to because housing goes off Gross income and doesn't take into account any other factors that may impact the family's capacity to pay for the rent. I don't know if that helps or answers any questions but... knowledge is power! 01:21:36 gay mctate: no update on support for youth and families- next meeting is Sept 28th - if want to join - gmctate@cox.net 01:26:32 Zachary Nelson: Zach Nelson Consultant, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation Phone: (402) 513-9115 Email: zach@republicinsights.com 01:28:12 Jennifer Skala: jskala@nebraskachildren.org 01:29:50 Leonor Fuhrer: leonorfuhrer@gmail.com 01:33:14 Leonor Fuhrer: Immigrant families work group meeting October 28th from 10:30-11:30am. 01:36:39 Heartland United Way: h3cnavigator@gmail.com 01:36:43 Rachael Surmick: Valerie, we updated our caps over the course of the spring.
