Project Everlast
No group in the United States is more predictably headed for unhappy outcomes than young people who spend their adolescence in foster care. Homelessness is widespread; academic failure is commonplace. Stable, gainful employment is elusive for most well into their twenties, and untreated physical and mental health problems are pervasive.
Originally funded by the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative in 2001, support from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Sherwood Foundation, William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation, along with others, help youth aging out of the foster care system establish connections to lifelong supports and relationships.
