Funding Priorities and Grant Cycles
Nebraska Children and Family Foundation grant programs provide community-based services with a sustainable funding source that is essential to providing consistent, reliable and high quality services to children throughout our state.
Since inception in 1997, we have awarded more than $8 million to Nebraska communities supporting services that address community needs in the areas of early childhood, preventing child abuse and the need for entry into the child welfare system, promoting school success/preventing truancy and helping at-risk youth transition to adulthood.
Nebraska Children has one grant cycle: July through June, announced in the spring. Grant programs are evaluated annually by the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Through those evaluations, we are able to understand how our strategic investments help us achieve our ultimate outcomes.
NCFF is only accepting requests from continuation grantees in 2010.
Grant funding is focused on these priorities:
- Home visitation programs for new parents
- Early childhood initiatives
- Substance abuse prevention in adolescents through youth development activities
- Child abuse prevention
- Programs for families at risk of entering the child welfare system
Past grant funding has included: home visitation services for new parents, parent education and support programs, after-school programs, mentoring services, respite care for parents of children with disabilities and child abuse prevention.
