Youth Development Programs: Nebraska's Foster Youth Councils
The Nebraska Foster Youth Council's (FYC) mission is to help youth in foster care transition into independent living while recognizing and taking full advantage of their strengths. And to create opportunities for youth in care to connect with each other in addition to providing input on program and policy issues. The Foster Youth Councils are currently meeting every other month as one large council.
Membership is exclusive for youth currently or formerly in the foster care system, ages 14-24. For 2008 the Foster Youth Council is working to create 7 regional Foster Youth Councils across the state. Now is a great time for youth to get involved and help build the Foster Youth Council in their area! Currently FYC members get a $25 stipend per meeting and mileage reimbursement!
There is no longer an application process to get involved with the FYC! Just send in a completed Sign-up Sheet and start receiving the latest Foster Youth Council information and meeting notifications!!!
